To spread a little gladness
Along the path I walk;
To speak in gentle accents
Whenever I shall talk;
To tell a friend in trouble
That I can helpful be
And seek to show the stranger
He has a friend in me.
To be remembering others,
Forgetting selfish aim;
To banish thoughts that shadow
The mind with taint of shame.
To hear my conscience whisper
Each night before I rest,
"However much you have stumbled
You have done your very best"
Along the path I walk;
To speak in gentle accents
Whenever I shall talk;
To tell a friend in trouble
That I can helpful be
And seek to show the stranger
He has a friend in me.
To be remembering others,
Forgetting selfish aim;
To banish thoughts that shadow
The mind with taint of shame.
To hear my conscience whisper
Each night before I rest,
"However much you have stumbled
You have done your very best"
